What is The Network
THE NETWORK OF NGOS OF TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO FOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF WOMEN was born in 1984 and founded in 1985, in response to the need for collaboration among NGO’s in Trinidad and Tobago. With a membership of 102 civil society organizations we are the largest “umbrella organization” in Trinidad and Tobago with several affiliate NGO’s throughout the Caribbean.
The Network holds Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), and is fully recognised by The Government of Trinidad and Tobago and the Ministry of Gender Affairs and is associated with the United Nations and its agencies including UNFPA, UNIFEM, WSIS, CSW, CSD, UNDEF, and the UNDP as well as the European Union, Commonwealth Foundation, Organisation of American States, CIVICUS, Match International and the Caribbean Policy Development Centre. It is also a member of the Stakeholder Forum for a Sustainable Future, Caribbean Institute For Women in Leadership and The Commonwealth Women's Network.
Acting as an advocate and support for all women’s organizations in the country and committed to the aims of The UN Convention on Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination against Women: we work directly with many other organizations and the Government of Trinidad and Tobago to bring about a change in the way women and children are viewed in society and the country.
